December 22, 2009

Dear Colleague,

It doesn’t seem like that it was that long ago that I was preparing the last enewsletter of the year for 2008; and here we are at the end of 2009 already! A lot has happened in the past 12 months – a new influenza virus of pandemic proportions and many proposed changes to health care in the United States – just to name two “healthcare highlights” that come to mind rather quickly!

We’ve undergone some changes here at Lippincott’s NursingCenter.com this year as well. The redesign of our home page, the addition of nursing news headlines from HealthDay, and the development of our Special Report on H1N1 influenza have allowed us to get important information to you in an organized and timely manner. We’ve also put together several clinical resources for you, the latest being our Focus On: Influenza. Other topics we’ve covered include ethics, trauma, asthma, diabetes, and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation’s Future of Nursing Initiative. Be on the lookout for our next collection about heart failure coming soon in January. Another new feature we’ve recently put together is our compilation of all the patient education tools from our journals. We’ve organized them by body system to make it easier for you to find just the right information to share with your patients. Our first on-line book published in 2009 as well – have you had a chance to check it out? Take a look at LGBTQ Cultures: What Health Care Professionals Need to Know About Sexual and Gender Diversity.

In 2009, we decided to get a little more social with you all too! Thanks to all our fans on Facebook and our followers on Twitter for being part of this journey with us. We look forward to continuing this social interaction with some additional features on our social media pages and with the addition of a blog in the very near future.

Happy Holidays everyone!
