Priority groups for H1N1 vaccination
  The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices recommends that the following groups be targeted for initial vaccination against H1N1 flu: pregnant women, people who live with or care for children under age 6 months, healthcare and emergency services personnel, children and young adults ages 6 months to 24, and adults ages 25 to 64 with chronic health disorders or compromised immune systems. More
 
National campaign to prevent pediatric medical errors
  As part of its Speak Up program, The Joint Commission is launching a national education campaign to help parents make a difference in their children’s care by asking the right questions and being actively involved, whether it’s at the healthcare provider’s office, in the hospital, or even at home. More
   
Final IPPS rule for fiscal year 2010
  Average inpatient payments will increase by 1.6% in fiscal year 2010, according to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ hospital inpatient and long-term care prospective payment system final rule. More
   
Government funds available for healthcare training
  $200 million is available through Health and Human Services’ Health Resources and Services Administration under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act to support grants, loans, loan repayment, and scholarships to expand the training of healthcare professionals. More
