The FDA has approved the following new drug: vigabatrin (Sabril) oral solution and tablets - to treat infantile spasms in children 1 month to 2 years (oral solution) and as adjunctive therapy to treat complex partial seizures in adults (tablets) who have not responded adequately to previous drug therapies. The drug will be available only through a restricted distribution program because of the risk of permanent vision damage. |
