Dear
Colleague,
May is National
Stroke Awareness Month. Check out these startling statistics
about women and stroke from the National
Stroke Association:
- Women are twice as
likely to die from stroke as from breast cancer.
- 425, 000 women suffer
from stroke each year; that's 55,000 more than men.
Also, in a recent survey,
women believed breast cancer to be five times more prevalent
than stroke and 40 percent were only somewhat or not at all
concerned about experiencing a stroke in their life. Let's
work together to raise awareness! Read more about strokes
and women by visiting the Stroke
Health Center at HealthyWomen.org. Also, take some time
to peruse the selection of articles on stroke from our journals.
