  Accredited hospitals in America have steadily improved the quality of patient care over a 7-year period, according to The Joint Commission's latest annual report Improving America's Hospitals: The Joint Commission's Report on Quality and Safety 2009. More
   
AONE delegation to India
  Registration is now open for the American Organization of Nurse Executives delegation to India, scheduled for September 12 to 20. The delegations foster one-on-one dialogue with international counterparts in nursing administration. More
   
Help for student loan repayment
  The Health Resources and Services Administration is accepting applications through March 4 for its 2010 Nursing Education Loan Repayment Program, which helps RNs repay their student loans in exchange for working 2 years in a hospital or other healthcare facility with a critical shortage of nurses. More
   
Guaranteed reimbursement for NDMS patients
  According to the Department of Health and Human Services, U.S. hospitals that admit National Disaster Medical System patients are guaranteed reimbursement at 110% of Medicare rates. Haitian and American patients will be referred by Haitian hospitals, nongovernmental organizations, and other facilities if they meet criteria for evacuation, which will be reserved for patients with life-threatening conditions that can't be handled within Haiti or by evacuation to another country. More
