Colleague,
 As I was going through our journals to select resources to share about professional development, the one common theme that kept coming up was education. To progress in your career as a nurse, education is key, whether it involves pursuing another degree, achieving specialty certification, maintaining your continuing education requirements, or attending inservices on new technology. Healthcare is constantly changing and it's our responsibility to keep our knowledge and clinical skills up-to-date.
In the first article in More Resources, the authors share the story of one hospital increasing nurses' confidence by orienting them to units when they were pulled. Also in this same article, another hospital explains the importance of educating nurse educators. Take a look at the other articles as well…do you see the common theme as I did? I leave you with this quote from Continuing Education: A Bridge to Excellence in Critical Care Nursing:
“A professional nurse engages in lifelong learning that will influence practice and ultimately impact the quality of care that a patient receives.”

The FDA has approved K-V Pharmaceuticals' Makena (hydroxyprogesterone caproate injection), indicated to reduce the risk of preterm birth in women with a history of singleton spontaneous preterm delivery. Makena is commonly referred to as "17P," and is administered every 7 days via I.M. injection beginning between 16 and 20 weeks of pregnancy and continuing until 37 completed weeks or until delivery, whichever comes first.
