 As nurses, we have several responsibilities when it comes to the care of older adults:
1. To advocate for changes in our healthcare system to meet the needs of older adults;
2. To educate older patients and their caregivers about preventive measures, chronic conditions, medications, and safety;
3. And to treat older adults with respect and keep our knowledge up-to-date and clinical skills sharp.

- The FDA has approved Fortesta (testosterone) gel 10 mg per 0.5 g for the treatment of low testosterone in men 18 years of age and older.
- The FDA has approved Amturnide (aliskiren/amlodipine/hydrochlorothiazide) tablets for the treatment of high blood pressure. This drug is approved for patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled with any 2 of its individual components. It is not indicated as initial therapy for high blood pressure.
