October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and it’s a good time to review these signs and symptoms which warrant further investigation:

  • New or persistent breast masses
  • Breast masses that are firm, fixed to underlying tissue or muscle, or have indiscrete margins
  • Nipple discharge that is unilateral, bloody, spontaneous, or  uniduct
  • Breast pain that is new, unilateral, not associated with menses
  • Breast pain associated with a mass or skin changes
  • Nipple or areolar inversion or rashes
  • Inflammatory changes that do not resolve with antibiotic
  • Peau d’orange
