Dear Colleague,

In this issue of eNews focusing on leadership, I must give credit to Jeff Doucette, MS, RN, CEN, FACHE, NEA-BC for his presentation at Nursing2013 Symposium, Leading From Where You Are: Creating a Culture That Inspires. During his presentation, Jeff highlighted the fact that you do not need a certain title to be a leader. Staff nurses are “front-line leaders” and as such, exert great influence in the workplace, often holding the key to resolving turnover issues.

In More Resources, the articles related to leadership are applicable to us all, no matter our setting or role. Please pay special attention to ‘Crucial Conversations’ in the Workplace, a great piece which offers a framework for discussing and resolving incidents of “coworker incivility.” It takes a true leader to stand up and address issues of lateral hostility.
