February 5, 2013

Dear Subscriber,

As we recognize February as American Heart Month and focus on increasing public awareness about heart disease risk factors, signs and symptoms, diagnosis, and treatment options, let’s also remember to ensure that our own knowledge of cardiovascular health is up-to-date. The articles in the More Resources box are just a sampling of related articles published in our journals over the last 6 month. From these articles, you’ll find answers to the following questions:

  • What is the relationship between muscular strength and the development of cardiovascular disease?
  • Which common comorbidity of heart failure patients is frequently overlooked?
  • Why is it important to measure the QTc interval?
  • What are the potential treatment complications of therapeutic hypothermia?
  • What is patient activation? How does this relate to self-management of chronic illness?

In addition to reading these articles, I encourage you to explore our Focus On: Heart Failure collection and sign up for our Cardiac Insider, a free monthly enewsletter with the latest cardiac news, CE, and journal articles.
