January 7, 2013

Dear Colleague,

I tend to think of the start of a new year as a clean slate to be filled in with positive changes. Well, at least that's always the plan! Yet again, I'm faced with the recurring resolutions of eating better and exercising more, but I will strive to fulfill them this year as well as a few new resolutions, such as returning to the clinical setting and maybe looking into going back to school.

In the first enews issue of each year, I like to share articles to help us assess our career goals and make a plan to obtain them, or at least get started. I do believe that professional development is important to a rewarding work life and fortunately the authors and editors of our journals have supplied wonderful resources to help us on our journey! I encourage you to spend some time reading the articles in our More Resources collection.

Team Concepts: Leveraging Technology to Promote Development

Online Learning: An Innovative Solution to Meeting the Challenges of Staff Education

Scope and Standards: Arkansas Children's Hospital: A Framework for Education and Professional Development

Professional Development: Nurses on Boards

The Meaning of Being a Primary Nurse Preceptor for Newly Graduated Nurses

AJN Series: Professional Partners Supporting Diverse Family Caregivers Across Settings

Wishing you all a wonderful 2013!

Sincerely,

Lisa Bonsall, MSN, RN, CRNP
