Single- and dual-chamber implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICDs) for primary prevention of sudden cardiac death are associated with similar one-year mortality and hospitalization outcomes, although single-chamber devices are associated with lower complication rates, according to a study published in the May 15 issue of the Journal of the American Medical Association.
