Review: In-Hospital Antibiotic Rx Behavior Can Be Improved

Both restrictive and persuasive measures can be effective for changing antibiotic prescribing behavior in a hospital setting, according to a review published online April 30 in The Cochrane Library.


IOM: Health Effects of Further Lowering Sodium Unclear

Lowering sodium levels to moderate (2,300 mg/day) seems to result in improved health outcomes, but the evidence is insufficient to assess the benefits and harms of further lowering levels, according to a review published by the Institute of Medicine.


USPSTF Recommends Universal HIV Screening From Age 15 to 65

The U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) recommends screening all 15- to 65-year olds, younger and older at-risk individuals, and all pregnant women for HIV, according to a Recommendation Statement published in the April 30 issue of the Annals of Internal Medicine.
