Your voices heard!

The response to our call for reader poetry and prose reflecting what it means to be a nurse to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Nursing made Incredibly Easy! has been overwhelming! Our first Celebrating Nurses column has launched, but there’s still room to add your story. If you’re interested in having your work featured, please e-mail it to our Managing Editor Coleen Stern at Coleen.Stern@wolterskluwer.com.

FDA update on flu medication and vaccine availability

The FDA anticipates intermittent, temporary shortages of the oral suspension form of Tamiflu for the remainder of the flu season. It also reports that some spot shortages of flu vaccine have been reported; consumers can locate available flu vaccine in their area using the Flu Vaccine Finder at http://www.flu.gov .

Although life expectancy and survival rates in the United States have improved dramatically over the past century, Americans live shorter lives and experience more injuries and illnesses than people in other high-income countries.

Disabled adults more likely to use the ED

Working-age adults with disabilities account for a disproportionately high amount of annual ED visitors, according to a comparison study by National Institutes of Health researchers.
