EHRs may be taking a HIT
The push for electronic health records (EHRs) may be doing more harm than good. According to the ECRI Institute’s Patient Safety Organization, there are 171 health information technology (HIT) malfunctions that caused or could have caused harm. These data were collected from 36 hospitals that participated in a voluntary program last year.
