Clinical nurse and nurse manager collaboration—yes we can!
To illustrate a highly effective practice environment, the American Nurses Association and the American Organization of Nurse Executives have developed Principles for Collaborative Relationships to guide clinical nurses and nurse managers on their synergistic role in creating, enhancing, and sustaining collaborative relationships.
Sustaining academic-practice partnerships
The American Association of Colleges of Nursing and the American Organization of Nurse Executives offer resources for nurse leaders to develop and sustain effective academic-practice partnerships.
Guides for the future
Two new guides are available from the American Hospital Association’s Hospitals in Pursuit of Excellence initiative. “Managing Population Health: The Role of the Hospital” offers essential strategies to improve the health of a hospital’s patient population. “Hospital Readiness for Population-based Accountable Care” provides a tool for hospitals to gauge their relative preparedness for accountable care organization participation.
Preterm births on the rise
The World Health Organization’s report “Born Too Soon: The Global Action Report on Preterm Birth” provides the first-ever national, regional, and global estimates of preterm birth. The report shows the extent to which preterm birth is on the rise in most countries, and is now the second leading cause of death globally for children under five, after pneumonia.
