CMS launches innovation center

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services has launched the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation, created by the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act to study better ways of delivering healthcare and paying providers.


Infection surveillance methods may vary

Publicly reported comparisons of bloodstream infection rates among hospitals may be affected by variation in surveillance methods, according to a recent study in the Journal of the American Medical Association.


New EHR safety reporting system

The iHealth Alliance has launched an online service, called EHRevent, that allows physicians and other healthcare providers to voluntarily report on safety issues related to the implementation and use of electronic health records.
