How safe is your hospital?
The CDC has released its annual report on device-associated infections that occurred in hospitals participating in the National Healthcare Safety Network. Reported infections happened from January through December 2011 and were submitted to the CDC by August 2012.

The American Hospital Association (AHA) has asked that the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services reconsider its decision to add a new survey to the Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS) program. The survey would ask about patients’ experiences with hospital outpatient surgical departments and ambulatory surgical centers, which the AHA feels is already covered in the current CAHPS program.
