Less Americans seeking health information
The proportion of American adults seeking information about a personal health concern from a source other than their physician dropped to 50% in 2010, down from 56% in 2007, according to a recent national study by the Center for Studying Health System Change.
Nursing workforce growing
The number of RNs ages 23 to 26 grew 62% between 2002 and 2009, according to a new study in Health Affairs. If the trend continues, the study projects that the nurse workforce will grow at roughly the same rate as the population through 2030.
CDC: Office-based physicians increase EMR use
According to the CDC, electronic medical record system use among office-based physicians increased from 18% in 2001 to 57% in 2011, and about 34% of physicians reported having a system that met the criteria for a basic system, a 36% increase from 2010.

Awareness of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease—the nation’s third leading killer—continues to rise in the United States, according to the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute.
