FDA warns against the use of certain HPV and hepatitis drugs together
The FDA recently changed the warning labels for the hepatitis C drug, Victrelis, to indicate that it should not be taken with the HIV drug Ritonavir. Studies have shown that the co-use of these two treatments can cause an HIV virus to develop immunity or resistance to Ritonavir.
Berries may prevent women from cognitive decline in old age
Berries have always been considered a super food for health, but research conducted at the Harvard Medical School has found that women who consume both strawberries and blueberries also have a slower decline in their cognitive abilities as they age. The berries have a high concentration of flavonoids, and incorporating them into a healthy diet is relatively easy. Researchers concluded that the berries delayed cognitive decline by up to 2 ½ years.
Exposure to air pollution while pregnant may impact childhood weight issues
A recent study published in American Journal of Epidemiology suggests that mothers who are exposed to air pollution may be putting their child at risk for obesity later in life. The study found that compounds found in air pollution such as BPA, phthalates and parabens impact weight. Children who were exposed to these compounds during a pregnancy were 79% more likely to be obese, and also exhibited several behavioral issues between the ages of 5 and 7.
