Study links diabetes to an increased risk for depression Patients who are diagnosed with diabetes have an increased risk for developing depression. A study conducted by Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania found that depression is considered a risk factor for diabetes patients, but the development of serious depression symptoms may be caused by patients not adhering to medication routines. The struggle to manage the disease and weight gain were also listed as factors contributing to an increased risk for depression.
End-stage heart failure patients are now able to spend their final days at home, according to a Walgreens Infusion Program Study Walgreens is giving heart-failure patients the chance to stay out of the hospital and live at home while receiving their final inotropic infusion care treatments. A recent study has found that Walgreens' coordinated network of healthcare professionals ensured that these patients receive optimal care in the comfort of their own home. Allowing this therapy in a home environment has shown to be cost efficient, safe, and effective.
