Study suggests that avoiding certain foods pre-surgery, may reduce physical stress post-surgery Recent studies on dietary intervention prior to surgical procedures suggest that by eliminating foods with amino acid tryptophan, patients are better able to recover and stay healthy post-surgery. The study at Harvard School of Public Health found that the simple dietary restrictions reduced stress, and increased the rate of survival in patients.
Prostatectomy patients more confident with robotic surgery after education A study conducted by Duke University indicated that patients who received education and discussed expectations regarding robotic surgery were more optimistic about the procedure. Patients felt that faster recovery times and a quick return to sexual activity made robotic surgery a better choice over traditional prostatectomy procedures. The study discussed patient education, and the necessary patient responsibility of researching skilled surgeons prior to undergoing traditional or robotic surgery.
