Surgeon and nurse sued for millions due to liposuction malpractice

Pennsylvania plastic surgeon Richard P. Glunk and a nurse, Edward J. DeStefano, were hit with a $20 million jury award in a liposuction medical malpractice lawsuit filed by the family of Amy Fledderman, an 18-year-old college student who died as a result of complications from an operation performed in 2001.


Clinicians call for gentler hysterectomies

Budget cuts boot some patients off transplant list

Effective at the beginning of October, Arizona stopped financing certain transplant operations under the state’s version of Medicaid. Many doctors say the decision amounts to a death sentence for some low-income patients, who have little chance of survival without transplants and lack the hundreds of thousands of dollars needed to pay for them.
