Patient’s abdominal tissue used in breast reconstruction surgery

Diana Foster was diagnosed with breast cancer at age 49. She went through radiation and chemo-therapy, and finally a bi-lateral mastectomy last year. Foster waited a year before considering reconstructive surgery and came across the Little Rock Plastic Surgery Clinic. Dr. Melanie Prince stated that the clinic specializes in using skin and fat from the lower abdomen to reconstruct the breast. Prince went on to state that not only does this type of surgery boost self-esteem, but it allows the breast to gain and lose weight along with the patient.
