Diabetes Prevalence Dramatically Increases in US

The prevalence of diagnosed diabetes increased in all US states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico between 1995 and 2010—with increases of more than 50% in 42 states and 100% or more in 18 states.


Smith & Nephew to Acquire Healthpoint Biotherapeutics

Smith & Nephew has signed an agreement to acquire substantially all of the assets of Healthpoint Biotherapeutics by the close of 2012, following regulatory approval. Leadership at Smith & Nephew calls the acquisition an important step for the company’s Advanced Wound Management division.


Education Campaign for Psoriasis and Vitiligo Patients

A new campaign is being launched to accelerate awareness of an excimer laser treatment, improve patient care, expedite information sharing, and reduce healthcare costs for psoriasis and vitiligo.


APWCA2013 Will be Hosted in Orlando

The American Professional Wound Care Association has scheduled its annual conference, APWCA2013, for April 4-7, 2013 at the Caribe Royale Suites Hotel and Conference Center in Orlando, Florida. Registration information is available on the organization’s website.
