New Melanoma Drug Could Extend Survival
In clinical trials, dabrafenib—a drug that blocks a signaling protein and is used to treat melanomas with a specific genetic mutation—or an existing drug was given to 250 patients with spreading or inoperable melanoma. Patients receiving the new drug survived for an average of 5.1 months without getting worse.
