THURSDAY, Oct. 1, 2015 (HealthDay News) -- Several strategies can be implemented in order to better use electronic health records (EHRs) for patient care and efficiency, according to an article published in Medical Economics.

Educating staff about preferences and processes allows them to help with electronic work. Patient information that is used routinely should be standardized using tools that are available in the EHR; this can improve documentation and save time. Other recommendations include setting small goals when necessary and dealing with lab results in one setting rather than putting aside complicated work. Finally, use of one's own templates can reduce the amount of editing needed with use of standardized templates.
