After reading "Tragedy into Policy: A Quantitative Study of Nurses' Attitudes Toward Patient Advocacy Activities" (Original Research, June), I have questions. Specifically: "Are you kidding me?!" and "How can these facilities be shut down as soon as possible?"

Reusing equipment isn't a "moral compromise." Giving people the hepatitis B or C viruses or HIV is murder. The many (many) corporations pushing nurses to break with safe nursing practice is not a valid excuse. Telling nurses they're "only allowed to use four bite blocks per day per procedure room" is criminal. The nurse who quit after just one day of work should have called the Nevada State Board of Nursing and any other appropriate agency.

To ignore basic safety is to commit a crime against patients. To all nurses, I say: get a tape recorder, wear it, and press charges.

I am truly outraged.
