Here is my spin on the Winnie-the-Pooh analogy in Cheryl Mee's editorial about negativity in nursing ("A Message for Eeyore," Editor's Note, October). I'm angry about nurses who've left the bedside telling the rest of us to stop "whining and complaining." Walk a shift in our shoes. Do it for a week. Maybe you'll see that the "whining" is a cry for help that never comes.

If I weren't a woman, would someone be telling me to have Pooh's optimism and Tigger's enthusiasm? I think if I were reading a medical journal, someone would be telling me to organize.
