The political cartoon on this month's cover, created by two-time Pulitzer Prize-winning editorial cartoonist David Horsey, is a commentary on the contentious circumstances leading up to the 2016 presidential election. Through the course of the race, Americans have watched increasingly divisive and tumultuous political rhetoric dominate the news cycle, social media, and conversations with family and friends. In light of this, the cartoon's depiction of the symbols of the Republican and Democratic parties as battered and bruised, and its reference to the need for "new blood," convey the idea that the current state of political discourse in the United States is problematic-and needs a change.
