Our problem has been to maintain an adequate supply [of breast milk] at all times so that any premature infant could be started on breast milk with the first feeding and have it continued as long as the pediatrician advised.... We have been striving for a simple effective method that would enable us to preserve this valuable food.... [W]e decided to experiment with freezing the milk in bottles. The result is our "Frozen Milk Bank" which has had as high as three-hundred ounces of breast milk at one time.
