The editors invite you to submit manuscripts for consideration for publication in Journal of Cardiovascular Nursing (JCN). In recent months, JCN has undergone a number of exciting changes that will make publishing in the journal an even more attractive option than before. The first of these changes is the change in format. Previously, each issue of JCN was devoted to a single topic. Recognizing the need for a high-quality outlet for original research and clinical reviews of cardiovascular topics, we decided to begin accepting unsolicited manuscripts on all cardiovascular topics. We will still feature intermittent and abbreviated topical issues. The frequency of issues published is now 6 each year. With the change to the full-size journal format, we are able to publish more articles in each issue. As before, JCN is peer-reviewed and indexed in Medline, Index Medicus, CINAHL, and all other important healthcare indexes. This draws an interdisciplinary and international audience.

We are especially proud of 2 additional changes. We are the official journal of the Preventive Cardiovascular Nurses Association (PCNA), and the journal is affiliated with the American Heart Association, Council on Cardiovascular Nursing (CCVN). As a result of these 2 new affiliations, the regular readership of JCN has increased substantially.

Manuscripts that are appropriate for JCN are those that address any aspect of cardiovascular disease. JCN is an advanced practice journal and the primary objective of JCN is to foster expert clinical practice of cardiovascular nurses. Journal articles address the physiological, psychological, and social responses of cardiovascular patients and families in a variety of environments. All types of manuscripts are accepted for review including research reports, clinical papers, and literature reviews that emphasize clinical implications. To request author guidelines, e-mail [email protected] or [email protected]. An abbreviated version of the guidelines is also is available in each issue of JCN.

Manuscripts should be submitted electronically (preferably by e-mail, but if this is not possible, by mail on computer disk) in a Microsoft Word file to the appropriate editor. Forms, permissions, figures, and photos should be submitted simultaneously by mail. If you live West of the Mississippi River, submit your manuscript and forms to Barbara Riegel, DNSc, RN, CS, FAAN, [email protected], School of Nursing, University of Pennsylvania, 420 Guardian, Philadelphia, PA 19104. If you live East of the Mississippi River, submit your manuscript and forms to Debra K. Moser, DNSc, RN, FAAN, [email protected], University of Kentucky, College of Nursing, 527 CON/HSLC Bldg, Lexington, KY 40536. Query letters are not required but, if sent, should be by e-mail.

We look forward to seeing your manuscripts!
