As a nursing student and a certified nursing assistant (CNA), I'd like to respond to "Too Posh-or Too Busy?" (Letters, January 2005). Even before I was accepted into an RN program, I saw myself as a nurse-someone who cares for the health and well-being of others. So it surprises me when nurses seem to suggest that delegating the care and washing of patients to CNAs is right up there with having the janitor do it. Aren't CNAs part of the nursing community?

Many people start out as nursing assistants to gain experience before going into an RN program. I think most of us are eager and willing to learn and help if given a chance.
