Diana Mason has a perspective that is both empathetic and realistic. Our society is one of extremes, and such balance is greatly lacking. The weight issue is an ongoing cultural anxiety. We may either snack on ice cubes and consume minuscule meals or gorge on high-fat, high-carbohydrate junk, but both extremes are unhealthful. My aunt was a little German woman who lived through two world wars and the depression that followed each. She always told me, "Enough is as good as a feast." On the other hand, as we age, some maturation of our figures is both expected and acceptable.
