Abstract

In the midst of the continuous fast-paced growth of emergency department utilization nationwide, motivation and high morale of staff are becoming more and more difficult to sustain. Working in a group or alone, the behavior and work ethics of each individual has a direct impact on the establishment and the dynamics of the organization. Emergency nurses attempting to adapt to the higher patient ratios and increased acuity levels are feeling the daily stressors of departmental transformations. Astute managers and leaders are aware of the stressors faced by their staff members and work diligently to develop action plans that will lead their staff to daily success and increased motivation.
