We dedicate this inaugural issue of Advanced Emergency Nursing Journal (AENJ) to the memory of Frank L. Cole, PhD, CEN, FNP, FAAN, FAANP, FAEN June 15, 1955-June 1, 2006

 

Dr. Cole was the founder and director of the Emergency Nurse Practitioner program at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston where he taught in both the Emergency Nurse Practitioner and the emergency care Clinical Nurse Specialist programs. He directly impacted many students, patients, and colleagues in his teaching, clinical practice, and professional organization roles. He indirectly impacted the care of hundreds of thousands, in fact probably millions, of patients through his tireless work to improve the knowledge and skill of bedside clinicians, especially those in advanced practice roles.
