As a nurse who moved into an academic position after 17 years at the bedside, I would like to comment on Susan Puterbaugh's Viewpoint. When problems occur in nursing, processes and systems should be evaluated first to find the root of the problem. Only after a cause has been identified should a contribution from education be considered.
