I am pleased to announce that the Journal of Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation and Prevention has been accepted for coverage in Current Contents/Clinical Medicine and the Science Citation Index Expanded. This is the latest step in elevating the journal to the highest level of visibility and recognition of excellence.

Current Contents/Clinical Medicine provides access to complete bibliographic information from articles, editorials, meeting abstracts, commentaries, and other significant items in recently published editions of more than 1100 of the world's leading clinical medicine journals and books in a broad range of categories. Science Citation Index Expanded(TM) provides access to current and retrospective bibliographic information, author abstracts, and cited references found in approximately 5900 of the world's leading scholarly science and technical journals covering more than 150 disciplines. Journal Citation Reports is the recognized authority for evaluating journals, presenting quantifiable statistical data that provide a systematic, objective way to evaluate the world's leading journals and their impact and influence in the global research community.

Users are able to sort journal data by clearly defined fields such as impact factor, immediacy index, total cites, total articles, or journal title. For authors, these reports can identify journals in which to publish, confirm the status of journals in which they have to be published, and identify journals relevant to their research. For the Editorial Board, these reports allow for assessment of the effectiveness of editorial policies and objectives and tracking the standing of the journal. Other key advantages include helping users stay up-to-date, providing a complete picture of today's global research in clinical medicine through comprehensive coverage and meticulous indexing. This will save research time by providing one source for a variety of research data including author abstracts, author addresses, and more information per bibliographic record than in other resources

Beginning with the January/February 2007 issue, the review process leading to the development of an impact factor is under way. Now more than ever, researchers heavily consider a journal's impact factor when deciding where to submit a manuscript for publication. Attaining an impact factor for the Journal of Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation and Prevention should elevate the number of high-quality manuscript submissions we receive each year. I would like to recognize the efforts of Dr Phil Ades in the pursuit of this achievement. His diligence over the past 4 years greatly contributed to this success. Thanks Phil.
