Diana Mason's Editorial ("Toward a Paucity of Poverty") and Madeleine Mysko's Viewpoint ("Charity") were compelling. I'm relieved to see the acknowledgement of global poverty and the political will to seek change. Many believe there is nothing they can do to improve the situation; others never even think about it. But all actions and disasters affect everyone globally. It's frightening to imagine a world where people are so focused on their own material needs that they ignore the suffering around them. If nurses don't support human rights, who will? Anyone can make a difference. If we lose that knowledge, we also lose our hope.
