Thank you for publishing O'Connor and Roy's "Electric Power Plant Emissions and Public Health" (February). I have never seen a nursing journal address, head-on, a pollution-caused public health problem. It's about time.

I try to do my part to protect the environment. I support local organizations that fight air and water pollution; I compost and even bring my apple cores home from lunch; at my church's coffee hour I bring my own washable cup and plate; I wear organic cotton scrubs (hard to find!!); I shop at thrift shops; I decline shopping bags and reuse the ones I have; I support local farmers; I eat little meat; I do not own a car; I use energy-saving light bulbs; I don't own a dryer (a clothesline works fine); I get to work by bicycle and mass transit; and I vote.
