Nurses involved in informatics are sometimes referred to as being on the dark side.1 These first three articles were written from the perspective of the "light side" or the clinician's viewpoint about information technology. You will see some similarities in all three and some differences. I hope they will generate some discussion about things that would be helpful to clinicians. The last one is somewhat fanciful, but all are rooted in a desire to have informatics as part of the nursing workflow.
