Abstract

People with dementia and their loved ones want to be prepared for the changes that lie ahead and to understand their options. However, there is an overwhelming amount of information and at times it is contradictory. Consumers find it difficult to get everything that they need in a single trusted source. This article will discuss the development and testing of the Alzheimer's Association CareFinder Web site and workbook that can educate consumers about good dementia care, effective communication with providers, and planning for care. In doing so, it will highlight what people need to know to become informed and empowered consumers of dementia care.
