Abstract

Editor's note:AJN has received numerous reports from the many nurses who, laudably, rushed to Haiti to assist in the recovery and relief operation. Many went as part of hastily formed medical teams from their hospitals or organizations; others went as members of federal disaster medical assistance teams (DMATs); and some joined church or other volunteer groups that had established aid programs in Haiti. Here we bring you a report of how some nurses, both in Haiti and stateside, participated in treating those who were injured. In the months ahead, we'll continue to bring you updates as nurses report on their involvement in the rebuilding of Haiti.
