CAN-IMPLEMENT: Evidence-Based Practice Guidelines for Local UseClinical practice guidelines tailored for local use

Clinical practice guidelines can only improve practice and patient outcomes if they can be tailored for local use. The CAN-IMPLEMENT© resource makes it possible to extend the reach of existing evidence-based practice guidelines by improving the quality and efficiency of the local guideline development process and reducing duplication of effort.

CAN-IMPLEMENT© provides a practical guide to assist individuals and groups engage in adapting existing evidence-based practice guidelines used within their institution or community. The resource provides practical guidance on how to adapt existing guidelines and recommendations for individual hospitals and communities and how to implement them. The resource is useful for any guideline developer or adaptor, and is particularly geared towards those with less guideline development experience.

Originally developed by the Canadian Guideline Adaption Study Group, this pragmatic and useful initiative is now available as part of the JBI Resources suite of products.

“There is only one body of international evidence supporting guidelines. It's a matter of moving to the next step and using our resources to adapt existing high-quality guidelines to the clinical setting.” — Dr. Margaret Harrison, Guideline Adaptation and Implementation Project lead and Professor, Queen's University
