Abstract

Computerized medical records will be the norm for all medical practices and soon. This article is an actual account of the successful implementation of a computerized medical records documenting and coding solution at a cardiology practice. Computerizing a medical office is a continuing and evolving process that involves setting-up, training and rethinking. The computer network IS the patient chart. The physicians and staff must be in the information loop and use the information tool, the computer, to record and retrieve medical information immediately and effectively. Medicine is just now on the threshold of realizing the immense benefit that the computer will bring to it.
