Abstract

Development of a curriculum using a conceptual model of a tree is described. With roots in knowledge and caring and a trunk composed of fundamental content, courses grow from three main branches. Equal emphasis is given to client, socialization, and environment. A critical-thinking/learning model developed by the author promotes self-directed, active, collaborative learning and is the basis of teaching methodology within the curriculum tree.
