We have the results in from the aesthetic survey. We had 109 total responses, and 75% were in favor of having an Aesthetic certification. More than 50% agreed that you should have the CPSN certification before becoming certified in aesthetic nursing.

The majority agreed that the aesthetics should encompass fillers, Botox, laser scherotherapy, skin assessment and care, facial rejuvenation, tattooing, and all aesthetic surgical procedures.

We received a lot of feedback regarding whether there should be a practical component and a written examination. It was evenly divided over this issue.

The main concern was how to prove competencies. The majority suggested to have the supervising physician do the evaluation and sign off on the completed tasks.

Another concern was consistency because there are many different techniques used by injectors.

I want to thank everyone who responded to the survey. We want to provide the membership with the goals that will benefit the majority of its members.

We are going to get a task force together, and with the help of all your feedback, hopefully we will put together an examination in the near future.

I will keep you updated on our progress.

Sincerely Darlene Jumpp, BSN, CNOR, RNFA, CPSN, PSNCB President
