Abstract

Much of the research regarding orbital fractures focuses on front-seat automobile passengers. There is little evidence discussing this type of trauma to rear-seated passengers. This case presents a restrained, rear-seated, forward leaning passenger who was texting on his phone at the type of time of the frontal impact. The diagnosis and management of orbital fracture are discussed to assist the advanced practice nurse in gaining a better understanding of this facial trauma to prevent significant morbidity.
