This is my first year as president, and I am looking forward to this exciting new adventure. We have just selected two new board members who joined us in May. I am proud to welcome Jo Ann Garofalo, Director, and Renee Hinojosa, Director. I am looking forward to working with them.

We have set some major goals to strive for this coming year. The first one is adding an aesthetic module to the certification examination. Our survey results showed that a majority of those who responded are in favor of an aesthetic certification.

We have a task force in place working hard to make this a reality. It will not happen overnight; there are a lot of variables involved that have to be worked out.

I am hopeful that we will have an update to present at the annual convention in Toronto.

I want to mention that it is an expensive undertaking to reach this goal. I would welcome any suggestions or insights you may have to make this a reality. Your can contact me at [email protected].

Another goal we have on the back burner is to apply for accreditation by the American Board of Nursing Specialties. If we add the Aesthetic module to our examination, we will need to wait until it has met the time frame requirements.

For those planning to attend the meeting in Toronto (it will be here before you know it!!), I was informed by my post office, there is going to be a big increase in the cost of a passport any day, so don't delay. Looking forward to seeing everyone in Toronto.
