Abstract

The lack of national guidance and consensus in the literature on the management of rotator cuff tears (RCTs) is such that treatment of them is often based on the experience of individual emergency care professionals. This article examines the literature on this subject and gives a detailed reflection on the experience of one emergency nurse practitioner of the diagnosis, physical examination and management of a patient with an RCT.
